Info about the Borderline/Freaks single

Information:

Artist: Plej
Release: Borderline/Freaks
Format: 12"
Cat no: exec91

Track listing:
1. Borderline
2. Borderline (Mock & Toof Remix)
3. Freaks

Borderline/Freaks will be available to download exclusively at beatport.com from March 31st.

From www.excetionalrecords.co.uk:

"Borderline is a deeply magical and magically deep track, whose middle name would be subtlety (if tracks actually had middle names that is). A lush instrumental full of Plej’s trademark flourishes, Borderline successfully avoids any sort of predictability - which some would consider a welcome breath of fresh air in the current (musical) climate.

Remixers of the moment Mock & Toof have also got their hands on the Borderline parts and deliver a version that can only be described as being so choc-full of Mockery and Toofery! The duo have delivered a sublime disco-tinged version and we hope you'll agree it's mighty fine.

The third track Freaks is on the other hand a completely different kettle of sardines. It's by way of an affectionate tribute by Plej mainman Arvid to his punk roots. Coming across like Was Not Was in a deranged/surreal Gothenberg night club, it somehow shouldn't sound like Plej, nor should it sit comfortably with their sublime electronica. Yet it somehow does on both counts. Woodwork squeaks indeed.

Both Borderline and Freaks will be making an appearance on the eagerly awaited, and long time coming, new Plej album which is scheduled for release in early summer."

"Borderline's an intoxicating slow-soul shimmy littered with strings, melodic piano, funk guitar and ethereal efx, all joining forces to create something quite original and magical". DMC Update

DJ Night at Chill house

in photo Joanna Wahlsten and me (Arvid)

in photo Alex Berg and my hand

After the shortest DJ set in history (first band was late, second band was eager and I was in the middle) we relaxed and had a couple of white russians. We got a bunch of vinyls from the label. Holding your own music in vinyl form is one of the greatest feelings!
Had a great night and the cloud liveset was awsome!

NEW single 15th October

Release: Safe Place
Format: 12"
Cat no: exec84

Track listing:

1. Original Mix

2. Toby Tobias dubbindelay Mix

3. Cloud Mix

Our first single from our new album is out on vinyl the 15th of October and exclusive Beatport digital download.

"subtle yet satisfying that demands repeated listens and leaving you craving for more. Sounding vintage and futuristic all at the same time, its warm Rhodes keys intro gives way for a spine tingling trumpet solo and Joanna Wahlsten’s smooth vocals, that confirm that we are indeed in a ‘Safe Place’. Its arrangement and production qualities recall the golden ‘Aja’ era of Steely Dan with touches of French pop, delivered in Plej’s own unique way.

Rekids’ Toby Tobias reworks ‘Safe Place’ into a dubbed-out cosmic disco trip and Exceptional’s very own and Hird’s younger brother, Cloud (aka Alex Berg) confirms that he’s a name to firmly keep our eyes on. Cloud has now delivered a mix that will devastate discerning dance-floors such as Berghain’s and Secretsundaze’s.

"Plej's cutesy easy listening grooves evident on the original mix are twisted up by Toby Tobias, who keeps the ambient groove going, and abruptly rotated by Cloud's beauty and the beast keyboard progressions" Phil Cheeseman (DJ Magazine / Strictly Rhythm)
